Lord & Whip, P.A. traces its origins to 1906, when the firm's predecessor, Keech, Wright & Lord, began representing maritime interests associated with Baltimore's busy harbor.  In 1919, George W.P. Whip left that firm and partnered with John Walter Lord to form Lord & Whip.

Mr. Lord was renowned for his advocacy skills and when he passed away in December, 1920, proceedings in both the United States District Court for Maryland and the Supreme Bench for Baltimore City were adjourned out of respect for his memory.

With the addition of other fine attorneys, the firm became known as Lord, Whip, Coughlan & Green in 1960.  The firm adopted its current name in 1986.

The ships that appear on the masthead of this site honor the firm's admiralty and maritime history.  Today, Lord & Whip, P.A.'s attorneys handle a variety of civil litigation and business matters.
