Ed Ranier’s practice focuses on the representation of business interests before state and federal agencies in rulemaking, legislative, and quasi-judicial processes. He has defended employers and insurers in matters arising from state and federal workers’ compensation claims and is a Registered National Lobbyist and OSHA Counsel for the National Funeral Directors Association.
Mr. Ranier has served as Chairman of the Governor’s Task Force on Funeral and Cemetery Law and as an Industry Representative appointed to the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Board. He came to Lord & Whip after having worked for nearly a decade as OSHA Coordinator and Counsel for Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Mr. Ranier is also a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maryland and Assistant State’s Attorney for Baltimore City.
Mr. Ranier is also a former co-chair of the Industrial Committee of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and a former president of the Maryland Law Enforcement Officers, Inc. He is a member of the Maryland State Funeral Suppliers Association, the Automobile Funeral Association, and is a member of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association’s Disaster Response Team.
