Kathy Bustraan’s practice is devoted to civil litigation before the state and federal courts in Maryland the District of Columbia. She focuses on the defense of professional malpractice, products liability, and serious personal injury cases.

Ms. Bustraan has successfully represented lawyers, title agents, accountants, real estate agents and brokers, mortgage brokers, and physicians sued for professional malpractice. Additionally, she represents clients in licensing and disciplinary proceedings involving the Attorney Grievance Commission and other agencies. She represents pharmaceutical and other product manufacturers in class action and mass tort litigation and has proven experience in complex, multi- party litigation.

Her reported cases include Wilson v. Eli Lilly & Co., 222 F.R.D. 99 (D. Md. 2004); Vogel v. Touhey, 151 Md. App. 682, 828 A.2d 268 (2003), cert. denied, 837 A.2d 927 (2003); and Gentry v. Ebersole, 378 Md. 612, 837 A.2d 924 (2003).

A member of the American and Maryland Bar Foundations, Ms. Bustraan is a former President of Maryland Defense Counsel, Inc., an affiliate of the Defense Research Institute. Additionally, she is currently President-Elect of the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland.
